Thigh Aesthetics
Upper Thigh Area
Fat deposits and skin sagging are seen generally in the upper medial thigh area. It occurs after weight-gain in genetically inclined patients and disturbs the patient especially while walking. Sagging is frequently seen in the skin of this area.
Upper Medial Thigh Liposuction / Leg Stretching
If there is excessive fat accumulation in the upper medial thigh area and skin tightness is sufficient, liposuction is useful in this region. Tumescent liposuction is done mostly, excess fat deposits can be easily removed in this procedure by entering from 1-2 small skin incision. It can be performed under local anaesthesia and sedation. It is then appropriate to use an elastic liposuction corset.
The skin elasticity in the upper inner leg may sometimes not be enough, the skin may be suitable for sagging. It is a condition especially after weight loss.
In this case, the medial thigh lifting (upper inner leg stretching surgery) would be appropriate. In this surgery, a linear scar remains in the groin line. The reason for this scar is the removal of the excess skin.
Sometimes it is necessary to combine stretching surgery with liposuction. This can be done with general anaesthesia or sedation. Then it is appropriate to use an elastic corset. In the late period, scar-reducing creams are used.
For the first week after thigh lifting operation, it is necessary to restrict leg use and pay attention on the toilet hygiene. Patients can gradually return to normal life after one week.
Lower Thigh Area
Non-pathological (vitamin deficiencies, orthopaedic disorders etc.) lower leg curvatures are often seen as a cosmetic defect. The lower leg shape is anatomically determined by the bones and muscles. Subcutaneous adipose tissue may also have limited contribution.
As a corrective procedure, there is no perfect method. Silicone prosthesis and fat injections are used mostly.
Silicone Prosthesis for Lower Thigh
The leg silicone prosthesis called calf implant is mostly used in cases with muscle atrophies in cases of polio, accident etc. The operation is not difficult, but there are a 1-week of walk restriction and some other difficulties after the surgery. Because this prosthesis does not go down to the ankles, it is not possible to thicken the ankles. However, it can also be used for aesthetic purposes in order to thicken the leg area below the knee.
Lower Thigh Correction with Fat Injection
In the aesthetic sense, fat injection is generally preferred for shaping the leg region. In some cases, if liposuction is added to the interior part of the knee, a more proportional leg shape can be provided.
Since the substance used is the person's own fat, there is no side effect like allergy etc. It can be repeated in 3-6 months upon request. However, patients who receive effective results at one time are the majority. On average, 15-20% of the injected fat can be permanent. The important thing here is the live transport of the transplanted fat tissue. Result can achieved from fat injection only in this way.
Thigh filling procedure performed by the fat injection method can be performed by sedation + local anaesthesia. Fat can be mostly taken from abdomen and lumbar areas.
