Lip Aesthetics
⦁ Foreign filler materials - Silicone injection is prohibited due to its damages and not used by surgeons. Hyaluronic acid (Restylane) is used temporarily to clarify lip edges, it is repeated every 4-6 months. Such fillings have also more permanent versions (several years). Implants that are completely permanent and placed with a small local intervention are also used (Goretex).
⦁ Lip injection with patient's own tissue - Fat injection is usually preferred for this purpose. It has no side effects such as allergies. The only disadvantage is that it sometimes a small cyst might appear on lip during injection, which is quite insignificant. If it is repeated several times in 3-6 months, more permanent results are obtained. It may also be useful to place the dermis tissue into the lip with a small local operation. For this purpose, by removing an old surgical scar (appendicitis, caesarean etc.), the scar is recovered, and lips thicken with dermis tissue of this scar.
⦁ Tissue flaps from the lips - Especially in young women and those demanding very thick lips, it is combined with fat injection. It is performed under local anaesthesia; dissolvable stitches remain inside.
Recovery Period
Lip injection and lip injection procedures made with flap from the lips are performed under local anaesthesia and they are easy operations for patients, but recovery period is not shorter than in other aesthetic operations.
It should be noted that the lip may remain swollen for at least one week. As is known, lip tissue is one of the fastest swelling tissues. In this case, it is best to perform lip injection simultaneously with another plastic surgery (e.g. aesthetic nose and lip injection). Thus, the recovery time of the two operations takes place at the same time.
